Who am I?
Hi! I’m Polya — a Brussels-based journalist and writer originally from Bulgaria. I specialize in topics at the intersection of culture, design, innovation, travel, and EU policy.
My journalism journey began in 2020 when I enrolled in the Master’s program in Journalism at the University of Groningen. Since then, I’ve contributed to several publications, including Travel Tomorrow, IO+, D5 Magazine, and EUobserver, among others. I’m passionate about telling meaningful, inspiring stories — whether it’s uncovering a hidden corner of street art or exploring innovation within the EU bubble.
Alongside journalism, I’ve gained hands-on experience in communications and event coordination, which helped strengthen my storytelling, organizational, and cross-cultural collaboration skills.
Currently, I’m fully immersed in freelance journalism, covering topics I care deeply about: EU affairs, design, tourism and travel, technology and innovation, and lifestyle.
When I’m not reporting, you’ll likely find me with a book, sipping matcha, or binge-watching the latest on Disney+ or Netflix—unapologetically, including Emily in Paris and Bridgerton. Or even better, travelling and exploring. I find it difficult to be in one place for too long. I’m also a proud orchid mom and an MCU fan.
